Columbia Dance is a 501 (c) 3 Nonprofit Organization committed to enriching lives through dance. By supporting Columbia Dance, you partner with us to ensure our long-term sustainability, and help us to reach our goals to present dance as a life-enhancing experience for our students and our community.

Every week, over 200 children walk through our doors and discover what they are capable of—through movement, discipline, and creativity.

At Columbia Dance, we believe dance is more than technique. It is where children learn perseverance, confidence, teamwork, and self-belief.

We are passionate not only about training dancers, but about shaping resilient, confident young people. And we are committed to bringing the benefits of dance to children who might not otherwise have access to arts education.

What Your Support Makes Possible

Because of our community of supporters, these opportunities exist:

  • 25 children participate in our INCLUDE program—accessible dance classes for children with disabilities, where every dancer is welcomed, supported, and celebrated
  • 100 children receive weekly dance education through our outreach program at Orchards Elementary, a Title I school
  • 1,500 third graders across Vancouver Public Schools study our Nutcracker curriculum and attend a live professional performance as a school field trip
  • $55,000 annually in financial aid ensures that cost is never a barrier to participation
  • 200+ students each week are given a place to grow, move, and belong

These are not just programs. They are life-shaping experiences made possible by community support.

At Columbia Dance, students develop skills that last far beyond the studio:

  • Confidence in their abilities
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Patience through challenge and growth
  • Creativity, expression, and resilience

These lessons shape how children show up in school, in relationships, and in life.

 

Why This Work Matters

For many students, Columbia Dance is more than a studio—it is a place where they feel seen, supported, and capable of achieving something meaningful.

In the words of one of our high school students “I’ve grown up here.  Not here in Vancouver, but right here at Columbia Dance.  The true impact that this place has had on my life is incomprehensible.”

But none of this happens without community support.

End-of-Year Giving & Tax Strategies

As you reflect on your year-end financial giving, there are a few ways you can maximize your impact while receiving tax benefits:

  • Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs): If you contribute to a DAF, now is a great time to recommend a grant to Columbia Dance.
  • Appreciated Stock Donations: Avoid capital gains taxes and claim the full market value of your stock donation.
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you’re over 70½, consider making a direct contribution from your IRA to meet your required minimum distribution (RMD).

 

Donating Stock: A Smart Way to Give

Columbia Dance now accepts gifts of stock! Donating appreciated stock can be one of the most tax-efficient ways to give, as you can avoid capital gains taxes while making a significant impact on our dancers.
